Lakeshore Motorsports - A Locally-Owned Family Business

Lakeshore's showroom is conveniently located just south of downtown Kewaunee on Hwy 42.
Lakeshore can order almost any part you may need!
Paul and Desiree Mertens of Kewaunee have a refreshing business premise. Not only do they provide excellent service and sell fine products, Lakeshore's owners "treat people like we want to be treated". That means a lot in this day and age.
You'll likely be greeted by a Mertens, since Paul, Desiree, and their three sons all work the various facets of this family business. Josh is a 2011 Kewaunee High graduate, while Jordan and Jerad are still in school but help by answering the phone and standing in just in case a customer wants to check out sizes of equipment or clothing for an absent family member. "It really helps to have three boys around," explains Desi.
Lakeshore Motorsports started in the shop building behind the Mertens residence on Ellis Street back in 2005. At that time, Paul and Desi had regular jobs, but they started selling and servicing dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, and later lawn and snow equipment, opening evenings and weekends. One driving force in establishing the business was the need to find affordable dirt bikes for the kids, and the Wildfire and Rokita brands did the trick. Their showroom was their driveway, and with the steady traffic on one of the city's major streets, product visibility was excellent, and the business prospered.

In 2010, the couple had their eye on the abandoned Jumbo's Drive-In restaurant just south of town on Highway 42. It seemed to be just the right place for expansion of the firm. Upon purchasing the property, the Mertens family began converting the building from an eatery to a retail store and shop. Many hours and much elbow grease later, the new location opened, and it became possible to carry larger snow removal and lawn equipment, more scooters and all manner of motoring gear, including awesome helmets, clothing, and other accessories. A large parking lot makes it easy to load and unload equipment.
Lakeshore carries Snapper and Snapper Pro mowers and lawn tractors, Echo chainsaws, pruners, trimmers, blowers, vacs, and sprayers, Keeway and Eton America Scooters, Landmaster ATV's, UTV's, and All-Terrain Go-Karts, Chilton trailers, Snapper snowthrowers and blowers, Marshal and Zox helmets.
From time to time, Lakeshore Motorsports sponsors scooter trips. They lead groups of eager riders to places of interest and have a lot of fun!
The firm serves Kewaunee, Door, Manitowoc, and Brown counties.
