Come Meet Griffin, A Gentle Senior Citizen
By Door County Humane Society and Sponsored by Serves You Right Catering
Aug 24, 2011 - 8:51:04 AM
To all Clark Lake area dogs: did you wonder where the fleas went this summer? Hundreds and hundreds of them found a home on poor GRIFFIN. This sweet older dog was heavily infested when he showed up at the shelter, so soothing medication and a thorough bath were in order immediately. Griffin has received several additional baths since his arrival in early August and he is feeling much, much better.
A haircut and meds to soothe his skin inflammation have brightened his world considerably. Griffin is a “condiment dog” - a real Heinz 57 combination of several breeds. The Humane Society is describing him as a Setter/Airedale/Retriever mix, but his adopting family may see other breeds represented as well.
Griffin has an open and happy personality. He’s 10-12 years old, and deaf, but his bright brown eyes take in every detail. Griffin is delighted to go for leash walks and meet other dogs that arrive at the shelter. At 42 lbs. right now, Griffin is looking forward to being spoiled rotten in a new home where regular mealtimes will help him add a few more pounds.
Please come meet Griffin if you would like a gentle companion and friend. Adoption fee is $90.00 (senior dog discount).
It’s “Bark in the Park” this Saturday, August 27! Come and join us, with or without a pet at your side, but to show your support for the rescue and care of homeless animals. Registration begins at 9am, and is $25 per person or $50 for a family. Look for us at Sunset Park, 3rd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. All proceeds benefit the Door County Humane Society. Thank you!
The Humane Society is here to take care of animals
that others can no
longer care for, or that have strayed away from their original
homes.
Please call us if a financial or family situation makes it impossible to
continue caring for a family pet. Our first concern is for
that animal
who does not have a say in the process. Contact DCHS at
746-1111 to
discuss the surrender process in a non-judgmental, positive way.
