Mitty Stands Out From the Crowd
By Door County Humane Society and Sponsored by Serves You Right Catering
Nov 9, 2011 - 8:52:13 AM
Greetings, Travelers Journal readers. It’s MITTY again. Back in June, I had my first profile but it’s five months later, and I’m still at the Humane Society. Actually, I passed my one year surrender anniversary in September.
My
friends tell me there was a character in a James Thurber story named
Walter Mitty, and he wove wonderful fantasies about heroic exploits. As
a namesake, my dreams are a little more practical - a sunny spot on the
window sill, or the warm place on your lap will suit me just fine.
Let’s get something going here, because a new home before the end of the year is definitely on MY wish list. Of course I know that this is a place where time doesn’t run out for those of us who are waiting for our forever families. This is an adoption guarantee shelter.
Just to recap my story: the Humane Society is the first memory I have as a small kitten back in June 2007. Then I was adopted and had a lovely Lily Bay home for three years. But in September last year, a member of my family developed an allergy to cats ... so back I came to Park Drive.
There are a lot of other great cats here, for sure, but I’m doing my best to stand out from the crowd. Wherever there is a desk to run across,
"Please, please, pick me, pick me!"
a paper to be pushed around, or a lap to be filled, I’m there. When you come to meet me, bring your landlord information or veterinarian records so we can speed the adoption process. My adoption fee has been reduced – what more do you need? I’m terrific.
The Humane Society is
here to take care of animals
that others can no
longer care for, or that have strayed away from their original
homes.
Please call us if a financial or family situation makes it impossible to
continue caring for a family pet. Our first concern is for
that animal
who does not have a say in the process. Contact DCHS at
746-1111 to
discuss the surrender process in a non-judgmental, positive way.
