My Name is Ginger and I Need a New Home
By Door County Humane Society

Sometimes even being a best friend isn’t enough. Hi, Journal readers. My name is GINGER, and I’ve just been surrendered to the Door County Humane Society. I guess something changed in my previous owner’s life so he did the right thing and brought me in to the shelter. My official description is "black & tan coonhound mix, 9 years old".
Everyone here gives me toys, hugs, and treats. Because my former family was good to me, I have all my shots and am spayed so I’m ready for the next big adventure. Here’s something that you don’t see too often - I’m originally from Washington Island. Yup, it was a lot of fun to be up there, and I got to ride the ferry several times, sitting in the car and watching the waves behind the boat. Now I’m meeting the other dogs here at the shelter - we all are hoping for those forever families we keep hearing about. On a sunny afternoon last week, I went into the yard to take this picture; I kept very still and quiet so you could see what a mellow girl I am. Really, I’ll be happy to sit in the sun for a while and then come in the house to see what you’ve been doing, or go help the kids with their homework.
Please come out to meet me, and if we get along, you and I can go for a walk along the trails here at the shelter. All the snow is gone, and that’s the best way for both of us to get better acquainted. I love to walk and play inside a safe area. So remember, ask to see GINGER, and let’s see where this goes!
