Door County Maritime Museum Offers Holiday Ornament Auction

Bidding in conjunction with the Door County Maritime Museum’s Holiday Ornament Showcase begins Saturday, Nov. 19. The popular holiday fundraising event features one-of-a-kind works of art certain to brighten homes for the holiday season. Of course, you have to be one of those fortunate enough to win one or more of the pieces that are part of the silent auction. Bidding will continue through Dec. 13.
Approximately two dozen ornaments and pieces of art, produced by some of the Door County’s most distinguished artists, will be on display in the Sturgeon Bay museum’s Reddin Bridge Room.
“These aren’t just tree ornaments,” said Trudy Herbst, the Museum’s Director of Development. “I’m very excited about the assortment of other imaginative works that are a part of this year’s auction.”
Bids may be placed anytime during regular Museum hours; the Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving Day). The admission fee to the Museum is not required to access the ornaments. Bids may also be placed by proxy.
The final bidding opportunity will be during the Annual Museum Member Mixer & Holiday Ornament Showcase on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 13. Non-members may attend the dessert social for a $12 fee. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Maritime Museum’s Anchor Appeal Campaign.
