Edgewood Orchard Galleries’ benefit cookbook, An Artist’s Food for the Soul, just passed the $100,000 mark in money raised to benefit not-for profit organizations working with children. The gallery recently announced a $5,000 donation to United Way of Door County. “We know that many budgets have been cut and there is great need for donations to carry out the missions of vital social service organizations here. United Way agencies serve one out of every three residents living in Door County, and we wanted to make a contribution to help them reach their fundraising goal,” said Anne Emerson, who created the cookbook with her daughter, Nell Jarosh, and graphic designer Dan Cross of Idea Studios. Castle Pierce Printers of Oshkosh donated the printing, and the gallery and all stores selling the book give the full price back to a fund established with the Door County Community Foundation. Over 35 Door County social service, arts, education and health organizations working with children have received donations from the fund since the book was published in July, 2009. An Artist’s Food for the Soul is Edgewood Orchard Galleries 40th anniversary collection of favorite recipes from artists, staff and family, each page accompanied by full color reproductions of artwork shown in the gallery. It is for sale for the holiday season at the following locations: Base Camp/Ecology Sports, Clay Bay Pottery, Cornucopia, Door Community Auditorium, Door County Coffee, Emerson Chiropractic, Gills Rock Stoneware, Great Northern by Design, Jacksonport Craft Cottage, Madison Avenue Wine Shop, The Main Course, Main Street Market, The Miller Art Museum, Northern Door YMCA, The Oilerie, and Passtimes Books. It can also be mail-ordered through the gallery website: edgewoodorchard.com. For more information or tickets please contact the United Way office at (920) 746-9645 or Edgewood Orchard Galleries at (920) 868-3806.
