Adults age 50 or older are invited to this monthly social that features great food, fun with friends, and informational resources. This month's speaker is Mavis Arnold the CEO of WEP, Inc. of Sturgeon Bay. This organization has been providing services to the community for over 30 years. Learn about the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program, Door County Job Center and other programs they provide. WEP, Inc. provides home energy and employment solutions for today and tomorrow. There is a $5 per person cost to attend and reservations are required. Call Shannon Finger at the Family Center by noon the Tuesday before the event at (920) 825-1430 or email at shannon@familycentersdc.com.

Come to the nurturing mother's group for it all while your children are engaged in adult-supervised crafts and activities. This mom-led group will address all kinds of topics like parenting issues, how to sneak some "me time" into your day, and whatever you want to talk about! You deserve a time-out, too! If you are a woman living the single life either by choice or by chance and wondering how to embrace your single status with a positive outlook, this group is for you. Women of all ages will gather in the upper meeting space at Glas Coffee House and take part in a discussion based on the book "Single: The Art of Being Satisfied, Fulfilled and Independent" by author Judy Ford. According to reviews on Barnes & Noble.com, "Single" is, "about upholding the most enduring relationship of all: the one we have with ourselves." The book chronicles a collection of true life experiences and practical wisdom that helps readers celebrate their single status. There is no cost to attend this 4 session discussion group held each second Tuesday from October through January. However you will need a copy of the book to read. Spend quality time with your child doing something fun for both of you! This month we will be hand-painting gourds. Let your imagination run wild while you learn how to paint gourds for decoration. Just in time for fall festivities. Recommended for ages 4 and up. This event is free, however donations are appreciated. Food, Fun and the Facts of Later Life Luncheon

This month's speaker is our Family Center's Executive Director and Program Specialist Gina Wautier, for WEP, Inc. (Women's Employment Project) of Sturgeon Bay. WEP is an organization that provides home energy and employment solutions for today and tomorrow, for both men and women. WEP has been serving the community for over 30 years and is best known with by their affiliation with the Door County Job Center, Door Tran, and the Energy Assistance & Weatherization Programs. Gina will give an overview of the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) at the luncheon on Thursday and will schedule appointments for households to apply for the Energy Assistance Thursday afternoon and all day Friday at the Rutledge Room. You may also contact Laura prior to the Luncheon to set up appt. There is a $6.50 charge per person cost to attend the luncheon and reservations are required. Call Laura Hagen at 847-2679 by Tuesday, October 18. These luncheons are open to all who are 50 and over.
