A Sigh of Relief?
By Ethan Taylor
Apr 23, 2007 - 9:23:06 AM

A trillium spreading its three tiny leaves,
Poking through the April soil.
Searching for the warm and wet,
Was it a sigh of relief?

Three hawks hovering in mid air,
Spying the ground below.
Gracefulness and beauty,
Was it a sigh of relief?

Tree branches bending mightily,
Gusty breezes making them sing.
Awoken from the winter's sleep,
Was it a sigh of relief?

Bodacious bugs venturing forth,
Along the moist forest floor.
Scurrying purposefully all about,
Was it a sigh of relief?

Humans deciding to leave untouched,
That which would have been slightly plundered.
Earth Day it was by chance,
Was it a sigh of relief?

Let the birches fall if they must,
But leave it up to fate.
Mossflower's glory protected for now,
Was it a sigh of relief?
