Poem - Springtime in Sister Bay
By Sharon Auberle
Apr 26, 2011 - 8:22:00 AM
Ice is out of the harbor, open water teal colored, its whitecap lace shining. Only one mound of snow remains in my lane, the black squirrel is getting frisky, and Reuben's tulips are rising. Cranes and crows and gulls trumpet awake! awake! The postmistress is smiling again, J.J.'s and The Pig jumpin'. Al's goats are dreaming of returning to the roof, and any day now, Barney will plunge off the town dock and be happy. Joel is in his coffee shop inventing a new tartine, Jeannie and Lost Mothra are writing new songs. Chuck the baker/sailor/poet is peddling his good bread and I'm considering raking the garden, writing a poem or two, or washing winter from my windows, till I come to my senses and realize the absolute necessity of watching grass grow.
