“Young Joe Bruce” sculpture by Keith Mutchler.
The Door County Art League (DCAL) Gallery, Fish Creek, is spotlighting the artwork of Keith and Sherry Mutchler — artists of the week for August 5 - 11.
Keith Mutchler creates figurative sculptures in clay. For inspiration, he draws on a family ancestry that included homesteaders and cowboys, his childhood experiences growing up in South Dakota, and memories of simpler times.
Keith's work at the gallery features cowboys and horses. He studied with Bren Sibilski.
Sherry Mutchler paints watercolors of Door County landscapes and people. Her approach to her art is all about curiosity and intrigue. She seeks to answer questions such as “what is happening here? … who is that person? ... what is he thinking? ... and why?
Sherry's paintings have been exhibited at the Link Gallery, Hardy Gallery and Miller Art Museum. She cites Bridget Austin, Ed Fenendael and Phil Austin as inspirations for her art. Sherry and Keith live in Sturgeon Bay.
“Bounty Bayward” watercolor by Sherry Mutchler.
The Door County Art League Gallery is located at the Top of the Hill Shops off Hwy. 42 in Fish Creek. Open daily, 10 a.m.—5 p.m., it features the work of 30 artists.
The gallery is a co-op, staffed by friendly, working artists.
