The Gallery of the Door County Art League at the Top of the Hill shops in Fish Creek will be open daily—10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—until the October 16 season closing.   Featuring over 35 DCAL member artists, the exhibits include paintings, photography, jewelry and pottery. The gallery is coordinated by Penny Pfister and Sherry Mutchler.

In 2011, the gallery initiated a new “tradition” of dedicating a wall to the works of DCAL Master Artists Margaret Lockwood, Emmett Johns, Ed Fenendael, David and Jeanne Aurelius, and Franne Dickinson. Gallery artists collaborated to decoratively paint Adirondack chairs for the Top of the Hill shops as a fundraiser for the Humane Society and the gallery. Wine and cheese receptions were held for the grand opening and the Top of the Hill Shops festival. Student award winners from the Miller Art Museum Salon were spotlighted in June.

According to Sherry Mutchler, Bob Kenyon will be joining the Gallery in a leadership capacity in 2012. The Gallery is also seeking interns to assist with operations next year. Thirty-nine spaces will be available to DCAL members who want to participate.  Preference will be given to current participants and interns. Available slots will be filled using a lottery system. Participants must be members-in-good-standing of DCAL as of April 30, 2011. Interested individuals can sign-up for a space at the Gallery or e-mail a request to dcalgallery@yahoo.com.

The Door County Art League welcomes everyone interested in the arts, in making new friends, in associating with artists and supporting them, becoming inspired, gaining knowledge and trying their hands at new pursuits. Membership is available to all persons interested in promoting and enjoying the creative arts in Door County.
