Dear Skipper:
Do you know where the best places to swim are in Door County? Being an otter, I thought you might know where some good spots are. I bet you're a great swimmer too. My family is coming to Door County in June, and we are staying at the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor. They have indoor and outdoor pools there, which will be fun, but my little sister and I want to find a beach where we can swim and maybe build a sand castle. Thank you Skipper for answering and I love your new column!

Dear Jason,
You are right!  I love to swim and I know of some of the best beaches in Door County.

You’re in luck!  There are two great beaches right in Egg Harbor where your family is staying.  My favorite is the Egg Harbor Beach (which is off County G, just north of the Alpine Resort).  The sand is nice, the beach is clean, and there is a great zero-depth entry into the water.  There are also bathrooms, changing rooms, and a playground all right there.  I also love the Murphy Park Beach (which is located on County G, south of Egg Harbor, near Horseshoe Bay Farms).  It has all of the great features of the Egg Harbor Beach and both beaches are between 5 and 10 minutes from the Landmark Resort.

Door County has so many other beautiful beaches and 15 of them are within a 20 mile radius of where you are staying.  For more information on beaches and other great things to do in Door County, visit www.doorcounty.com

Don’t forget to bring your sand toys—one of my favorite things to do at the beach (besides swimming!) is making sand castles and other fun sculptures.

I truly hope that you enjoy your stay in beautiful Door County!

Your friend,
Skipper
