Soccer or Dance Class?
By Skipper the Door County Otter

Dear Skipper:
I need your advice. My mom is helping me to organize my schedule for fall. I like to play soccer, but I have several friends who are signing up for dance class. I like being with my friends and do not want to feel left out of their dance class. But, I like soccer and I want to keep getting better at it. My mom says I need to choose one, because they meet at the same time. What do you think I should do?

Dear Kiki,
Thanks for writing to me. It sounds like you are in a tough situation. I know how hard it is to want to do things with your friends and at the same time, you want to pursue your own interests.
If you like soccer as much as it sounds like you do, I think that you should play soccer! There are other ways to be connected with your friends besides taking dance class. Make an effort to make plans with them. Set up a time to be together doing something that you all like. If you like to go to the movies with them, make a plan that every Saturday will be movie day. There are lots of fun things to do with friends! That way, you can have the best of both worlds - soccer and your friends.
I hope this helps! Good luck!
