Auditions Held for Door Community Auditorium’s "Door County Idol"

Open auditions for Door County youths ages 15-19 will take place the week of November 14 at Door County high schools.
Gibraltar HS - Monday, November 14 from 4:00 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Sevastopol HS - Tuesday, November 15 from 4:00 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Sturgeon Bay HS - Wednesday, November 16 from 4:00 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Southern Door HS - Thursday, November 17 from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
All auditions will take place in the choir rooms at each school.
Interested Washington Island youths are encouraged to call Door County Idol Producer Kristy Nelson for an appointment at 920-421-0260.
Auditioners should come prepared to sing an a cappella musical selection, answer questions and demonstrate stage presence. At least six contestants will be chosen to perform at the Door Community Auditorium on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.
Mentors will be paired with the youths to encourage musical growth. Interested mentors may contact the Door Community Auditorium at 868-2728. Two solo musical numbers will be performed by each contestant. A group number will also be performed. Stage veterans Alan Kopischke and Doc Arthur Hopper will work with contestants in the weeks leading up to the finale. Cash prizes are awarded to each contestant, with the winner receiving a $1,000.00 cash prize.
Sponsors are needed for this popular event that supports Door County youth. Interested sponsors are encouraged to call the Door Community Auditorium at 868-2728.
