Country Star Lee Ann Womack Lights Up Door Community Auditorium Stage

The Door Community Auditorium is excited to present Lee Ann Womack live in concert on Sunday, August 14. Womack, a six-time Country Music Association Award winner and frequent Billboard chart-topper, is a progressive country vocalist with a strong sense of her musical roots - an astonishing performer whose strength derives as much from the power of her message as from the power of her inimitable voice.
A lifelong student of country music, Lee Ann Womack brings a contemporary flair to old-fashioned country music, creating a sound that’s as refreshing as it is appealing. Though she has proudly followed in the great vocal tradition of country icons like Dolly Parton, George Jones, and Tammy Wynette, Womack has also forged her own musical path, earning Grammy nominations and topping the Billboard charts with such unforgettable songs as “I’ll Think of a Reason Later” and “I Hope You Dance.”
“You don’t ever make records to win awards – or even to make big statements,” says the woman who’s won six – including Female Vocalist of the Year – and been nominated for 20 CMA Awards. “You’re trying to catch a moment of someone’s life, and in my case, make the best kind of country music you can, because country music – to me – is real life.”
Not that Womack’s kind of country doesn’t blur formats and cross genres. Her ubiquitous 6 week #1 “I Hope You Dance” was heard on every kind of radio station except Urban, and her duet partners range from Willie Nelson to Harry Connick, Alan Jackson to the Blind Boys of Alabama, Buddy Miller to George Strait.
Tickets for Womack's August 14 performance (which begins at 8:00 p.m.) range from $52 to $70 and can be purchased in person at the Door Community Auditorium on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
