Guitar Master Leo Kottke at Door Community Auditorium
By Door Community Auditorium
Sep 14, 2011 - 8:18:02 AM
On September 18, American guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke will take the stage at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek. Famous for his unique blend of guitar-based jazz, blues, and folk, and for his unparalleled instrumental sophistication, Kottke will deliver a one-of-a-kind concert that should not be missed.
Leo Kottke is a self-styled guitarist with an unconventional picking style who has continued to innovate and experiment throughout his long and illustrious career. Since beginning to play professionally in the late 1960s, Kottke has moved fluidly among many musical genres, using his propulsive fingerpicking technique to create a sound rich with syncopated rhythms and polyphonic melodies.
Though he’s primarily known for his prodigious instrumental skill, Leo Kottke has also gained renown for the innovation of his songwriting, the expressiveness of his baritone voice, and the witty banter of his live performances, all of which promise to make his concert at the Auditorium especially remarkable.
Tickets for Kottke's September 18 performance (which begins at 8:00 p.m.) range from $22 to $35 and can be purchased in person at the Door Community Auditorium on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
