Through October 10, 2011, the ferry will run at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. during the week, with more trips mad on weekends. Dogs are permitted on the ferry. Dogs must be on a leash at all times on the island and it is the owner's responsibility to clean up after their pet. Only campsites 20 through 35 and the two group sites permit dogs. Power and sailboats are accommodated on the dock as space permits. Mooring fees of $1 per foot, per day are in effect for overnight only. There is free mooring during the day. No reservations are permitted and there are no amenities. FacilitiesThe boathouse is open daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lighthouse tours are given free of charge daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October 10, 2011. Lake and BeachSwimming has been excellent on the south beach, but waters are starting to cool. Kayakers are enjoying the area but need to be mindful of changing weather conditions. Winds can increase rapidly on Lake Michigan, and windy weather is more common as summer turns into fall. Smallmouth bass fishing has been good for those with some skill. Size limit is 12 inches, smaller fish have to be released right away. A Wisconsin fishing license is required for anyone 16 and older. TrailsAll trails are open and in good condition.
All campsites are reservable. Sites can be reserved online or by calling (888) 947-2757. Fall season can make for great camping since the bugs are gone and the Lake moderates temperatures.
