Official Sesquicentennial Celebration for the Town of Egg Harbor Planned
By Staff
Mar 29, 2011 - 5:50:00 AM
Time to mark the calendar for another festival happening this summer in Door County! This one is for the Town of Egg Harbor. Not to be confused with the Village of Egg Harbor, the "town" is actually the township of Egg Harbor and encompasses quite a bit of rural area adjacent to the village and beyond.
This event is the official Sesquicentennial Celebration commemorating the founding of the
Town of Egg Harbor. There will be a parade starting at 10:00 am, food, fun and games. In
celebration of the Town of Egg Harbor's 150th birthday, local bands will
perform at the Town Hall, located on County I, just one mile east of
Carlsville.
UW Marching Band
Scheduled to perform are the Modern Day Drifters and The Bittorf Brothers. Also planned is a
special appearance by the UW-Madison Marching Band.
Door County visitors and locals alike love a good festival. This one takes place in Carlsville, just north of Egg Harbor on Highway 42 and County I. It's sponsored by the Egg Harbor Historical Society. The hours of the celebration are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
The Egg Harbor Historical Society meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday of
each month at 6:00 pm. Meetings alternate between the Egg Harbor Town
Hall (March) and the Bertschinger Community Center. The group is committed to keeping history alive for future generations through collection, preservation and sharing of the heritage of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. All Egg Harbor
History buffs are welcome.
