This website has evolved over the past several years and had a few different formats prior to the current one you see here. Originally it was set up as a private website for the lodging guests of our rental unit at the Landmark Resort. It was affectionately known as "Steve's Door County Favorites" and served to address guest requests for trip planning information and recommendations for places to go and things to see. Between the two of us, we have over 50 years of combined experience in visiting, researching, and loving this great place with our families!
Subsequently, when our sister site Door County Vacation Lodging was started in 2005, we moved "Steve's Door County Favorites" to a section within that website. Door County Travelers Journal was born, and the trip planning resource concept was expanded to become an online magazine about memorable people and places in Door County. We began to add stories about the places we like to recommend to Door County visitors.

On Christmas Day, 2005, we migrated the Door County Travelers Journal from its little section in the lodging website to its current address, its own website. DoorCounty TravelersJournal.com took on a flavor of its own and was intended to bring Door County visitors and Door County businesses together. We offer businesses the opportunity to place advertorials in this publication to promote their products and services. (See the "About Our Services" section of this website.) Most recently we introduced a "new look" to the publication, that which you currently see. This format allows us to spend more time on editorial efforts and less on technical work.
We're also very interested in providing a place for young authors to publish their writing. Specifically, our hope is that children residing in Door County will provide valuable insights about the area from their own perspective. At the same time, children can see their writing "in print" and share it with distant family friends and relatives by way of this web site. We'll consider non-fiction, fiction, and poetry submissions by kids of all ages. There are already some examples of children's writing in the current editions.
Young writers or their families should Contact Us. Tell us what you'd like to write about and where it might fit into this publication.
