By Door County Visitor Bureau
Jan 18, 2012 - 8:58:00 AM
The Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB), the tourism marketing organization for Door County, announced today that the 2012 Official Door County Visitor Guide is now available. The popular free travel guide for one of the Midwest’s premier travel destinations features a wide variety of content about visiting Door County. A primary emphasis on photography again highlights the scenic and breathtaking beauty of the area throughout the 2012 guide.
A large 2-page county map can again be found just inside the back cover, and a panoramic wrap-around cover image runs from the front to the back as well in this year’s edition. The cover of the 2012 guide features one of Door County’s maritime icons, the Rock Island State Park boathouse. The cover image shows a couple boating near the Rock Island shoreline, with the landmark boathouse and other Rock Island features in the background. Helpful travel information the guide is well known for is again included with special sections and business listings on the arts, history & culture, recreation, dining, shopping, lodging, services, group travel, event planning and profiles of the communities that make up Door County. A calendar of events, detailed index and individual community maps finish out the 178 page guide. The 2012 Official Door County Visitor Guide is the primary fulfillment piece mailed and distributed outside of the county to visitors requesting information by phone and online through the Door County Visitor Bureau. 250,000 guides were printed for 2012. The guide will also be distributed at visitor centers, travel agencies and other outlets throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. A virtual version of the guide can also be viewed online on the visitor bureau’s web site, DoorCounty.com. Guides are also distributed at the Door County Welcome Center, 1015 Green Bay Road in Sturgeon Bay and at other visitor centers throughout Door County. Local businesses are encouraged to have the complimentary 2012 guides available for their customers as well. Businesses in Door County can have guides delivered to them free of charge by contacting the DCVB at 920-743-4456. The DCVB is the official tourism marketing organization for the county whose mission is to generate incremental economic impact for the community by attracting visitors with strategies that ensure sustainable tourism.
