Door County Gift Certificates make a great Christmas present!
Looking for a last minute stocking stuffer or holiday gift idea? Look no further than Door County Gift Certificates as the perfect gift for friends, family, colleagues, bosses or that special person you know that just can’t get enough of Door County. Door County Gift Certificates are available in denominations of $10, $25 and $50 and are redeemable at most Door County businesses. They can be purchased by cash, check or credit card in person at the Door County Visitor Bureau Welcome Center (1015 Green Bay Road, Sturgeon Bay), by phone at 800-527-3529 or online at DoorCounty.com. Door County Gift Certificates can be used for things such as dining, activities, retail, attractions, lodging or even groceries. They make a great gift if you don’t exactly know what to get for someone or if that someone particularly loves Door County! Additionally, since they can only be redeemed at businesses located within the county, Door County Gift Certificates support the Door County Buy Local campaign by keeping money local and helping foster economic development right here in our own backyard. The Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) has sold nearly $160,000 worth of Door County Gift Certificates already this year. Any and all Door County businesses may accept Door County Gift Certificates as payment for goods and services, and are encouraged to do so. The DCVB will reimburse businesses for 100% of the gift certificate’s value regardless of whether the business is a member of the DCVB or not. Since the certificates are redeemed at full face value, businesses may also choose to give change back to allow patrons to use the change for gratuities or other items.
The Door County Gift Certificate program was started in August of 1999 by the Door County Visitor Bureau in response to an overwhelming number of requests from visitors and residents who wanted a universal gift certificate that could be used at a variety of local businesses county-wide. Since then, the program has grown tremendously and now sees more than $160,000 in annual gift certificate sales. In addition to being popular gifts for residents and visitors, Door County Gift Certificates have become a popular corporate gift. The DCVB receives orders from large companies who give their employees Door County Gift Certificates for the holidays and as sales incentives. Luxury car dealerships in Wisconsin have even purchased Door County Gift Certificates to give away with a bona fide test drive. The Door County Visitor Bureau is the official tourism marketing organization for the county whose mission is to generate incremental economic impact for the community by attracting visitors with strategies that ensure sustainable tourism.
