Door County Auditorium
Being a classically trained violinist has provided Lynn Gudmundsen the wherewithal to expand her repertoire to perform “a bit of everything.”  The well known Door County entertainer gets that opportunity Saturday, Jan. 16 in the opening of the annual Door Community Auditorium Fireside Coffeehouse concerts.

Show time is 7 pm, with all tickets priced at $14.  Seating is limited and the public is encouraged to order tickets in advance.

While the violin and fiddle may be one and the same, when Ms. Gudmundsen gets her hands on the instrument, she does some serious fiddling around.  It’s during these times when she moves easily between bluegrass, jazz, Irish, blues, folk and original compositions, mixing in, of course, some classical music as she has during her more than three decades of performing.

Lynn feels fortunate to have begun her musical training at an early age when “life was simple.”  She credits practicing the violin as a youngster with most accomplishments in her life. “Learning the self-discipline necessary to achieve technical proficiency on the violin created a lifetime of good study habits,” she says.

She is a member of the Primavera Strings, along with Hans Christian on cello and Beth Hon on violin.  “Primavera Strings has rekindled my delight for playing classical music with good friends,” Lynn said.

The founder of The Door County Bluegrass Camp, Lynn’s most recent recording is titled “Violynn-Fiddlynn-Madolynn”. In her “spare time”, she teaches mathematics and computer classes for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

In the Jan. 16 concert, Lynn will be joined by some of her friends for an evening of down home music.

Tickets, priced at $14 plus tax and handling, are available at the Door Community Auditorium box office from 10 am to 3 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 11 am to 3 pm the day of the concert.  Tickets may be purchased by phone at 868-2728, or via the internet at www.dcauditorium.org.
