Oct 10, 2012 - 8:00:02 AM
Live Green … Save Green is the theme for the 2012 Home Energy Fair presented by WEP, Inc. with sponsorship from the Green Fund of the Door County Community Foundation, Wisconsin Public Service, Sturgeon Bay Utilities and Virge Temme Architecture.
Meet the experts during various demonstrations and presentations including plumbing, heating and electrical alternatives; insulation, sealing and indoor air quality; benefits of a home energy audit and energy efficiency. The film “Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America” will also be featured for viewing.
The Kids Zone will host fun, educational games and puppet show on energy conservation.
WEP’s House of Pressure, sponsored by Dominion Energy and the Raibrook Foundation, will be unveiled. Most home energy tests that can be performed on an actual home can be performed utilizing the House of Pressure. The House is made of a high strength plastic laminate so the inside of the House is visible from all four sides.
The Kids Zone will host a puppet show on energy conservation.
The House has an operable forced air duct system, a dryer, bathroom fan, fireplace and hot water heater. There are smoke generators for the fireplace, water heater and car exhaust. This visual tool can show duct leakage and how it can affect health, safety comfort, durability and energy efficiency by creating leaks.
The Home Energy Fair is Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Cherry Point Mall and is free to the public.
There will be food, refreshments, door prize drawings and a chance to win a Home Energy Audit valued at $500.
