Door Community Auditorium (DCA) has announced the final installments of its popular winter “Movies at the Door” Series, which will take place three more Friday nights this season: February 8, February 22, and March 1. Movies at the Door screenings take place at 7 p.m. and are free to the public; freewill donations are accepted and encouraged.

 

On Friday, February 8, DCA presents Frankenweenie, Tim Burton’s hit 2012 stop-motion fantasy film. Warmly received by critics and audiences alike, Frankenweenie is the story of Victor, a young boy who loses his dog and tries to resurrect him using the power of science. Frankenweenie features the vocal talents of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and Martin Landau, and was nominated as Best Animated Feature Film by both the Golden Globe and the Academy Awards. Frankenweenie is rated PG.

Friday, February 22, DCA will screen Bully, a 2011 documentary film about bullying in U.S. schools. Directed by Lee Hirsch, the film follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis. Bully premiered to great acclaim at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. The screening of Bully is sponsored by Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik of Sister Bay. Bully is rated PG-13.

 

Friday, March 1, DCA offers a screening of Undefeated, the 2011 Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Feature. Undefeated, directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin, documents the struggles of

a high school football team, the Manassas Tigers of Memphis, as they attempt to complete a winning season after years of losses. At the center of the story is coach Bill Courtney, who helps form a group of young men into an academic and athletic team. Undefeated is rated PG-13.
